Cutting down on Sugar

Last December, I had been rushed to the hospital when I suddenly felt as if the world was spinning! It was a horrible experience that I was begging God to make it stop.

I am not a meat eater but I have a sweet tooth. My diet consists of I think 70% sugar. That maybe a safe estimate. I love doughnuts, cakes, chocolates but I'm not into soda. After meal I would crave for some sweets. Carbo and sweets would always go hand in hand. After satisfying the crave for carbo I would then be looking for sweets and the cycle continues. I guess my body can only take enough of it so my blood level elevated. I was throwing up as well. I had been eating ice cream and some very sweet dessert that day.

My blood pressure reached 150/90. I always have a 120/80 blood pressure so that was really off the roof. They gave me this medicine that was put under my tongue. They said for fast action to lower my blood pressure. I stayed there for 6 hours and my eyes were closed the whole time. I went home to rest and I was fine the next day.

I told the doctors about my excessive sugar intake but they didn't think it was connected. (here's a good site I found when some useful information about sugar and high blood pressure) So I related it to my overstressed life, emotionally and physically. I took some rest and it did wonder, as expected. After a week my blood pressure went too low. 100/80 if I can remember it right. Some folks said it's over fatigue that caused my blood pressure level to go from high then low.

For me everything makes sense, the sugar, the stress, my diet. I find it difficult though to part with sugar but I know I have to.

I have had my sugar level checked and it came back normal. Not a reason though for me to abuse it.

I'm now thinking of my liver.

Last night I was thinking maybe it's time to cut on sugar slowly. You see, I have always been 100 lbs except when I was pregnant and after giving birth 17 years ago but call it genes or whatever I always go back to  that weight and now even 5 lbs less I guess. With my weight you never worry about diet or counting calories. I don't gain weight easily no matter what or how much I eat. But what's in the inside that counts right?

So this is day 1 of cutting down sugar and giving my liver and kidney a break.
