Senior's Night Then and Now

My daughter is on her way to Pili Camarines Sur with her classmates for a retreat. She will be there for 3 days and two nights. And I am bored to pieces. Blogging is a good way to pass the time.

Last Saturday, my daughter had their senior's night. I brought her to school and had the chance to see the rest of the attendees and I can't help not to compare the senior's night during my time or what we called JS Prom to today's. It took a lot of control from me not to burst into a big laugh (since I was alone) when I remembered what we all looked like during our prom!

Okay here is a picture of my daughter (with her boyfriend), in a very simple dress.

I figured everybody would be in dark colors as was the customary for an evening event so I told her to wear white. I always want it simple but classy.  Sometimes we tend to be very particular with the style of the dress not considering if it's gonna complement our body shape or not that when we wear it, it totally outshines us. Damit na lang ang nakikita. We would also  pick up designs worn by those we see in the magazines, forgetting that they are what we call zero size models and unless you are the same size, find another design. I'm just saying...(from what I observe and the typical practice.)Anyway, I was right, almost everybody wore dark colors...

Now below is a picture that totally backfired on what I was just lamenting..lol..a picture of myself during our JS prom in the 80's. (simple daw..hahahaha)

Well my excuse is that I was young, stupid and definitely never were a fashion conscious (until now, that is.) Can you tell if it's from Tiya Salve or Auntie Ginny's fashion house?..hehehe. I completely forgot where I rented that. You couldn't tell if we were bridesmaids or brides..lol.

You're all welcome to laugh..hihihi..I had a good laugh at myself as well! Juliet still has the same look today. It's as if she doesn't age and to think she's already a grandma! I wonder what's her secret...

Gigi still has the same smile..those very dimples that draw us in everytime she smiles..and Gil, like Juliet he looks the same now like he was then in a more mature version of course..

Well, we may look different then from prom-ers now but the fun was there as what my daughter experienced that Saturday night.
