I'd like to talk about time management. This is more for myself actually. I'm sure almost everyone out there have no problem managing their time. I, on the other hand, am finding it more and more difficult to manage mine. It seems that 24 hours is not even enough anymore sometimes to finish my tasks.
I thought staying home would leave me with more time to organize everything. I guess it's not that simple. Sometimes you finish something 2 more tasks are waiting in line. They just keep piling up. I guess the more you think about wanting to finish everything it adds to the pressure of getting it all done.
I have this notebook where I write down things to be done daily. I put the date and sometimes when I get a bit crazy I would even put the time and the things to do in order. It feels so satisfying when I'm able to stick to that schedule.
At other times though, I am not in the mood to do what is on that notebook. Another thing occupies my time and plus I'm not crazy about routine jobs. So even a particular task which has to be finished first thing in the morning is done in the afternoon.
Now at the end of the month some visitors would arrive and I have to clean this house from top to bottom. I need the extra room for them to shack in.
Anyway, here are some things I do to avoid pressure and stress now.
Instead of writing things to be done for the day, I jot down ALL the things to be done in no particular order. This way I get to pick one task I'm in the mood to do for that day in my own time getting the result I want hence avoid redoing it. There are regular chores that has to be done on a daily basis though that can't be missed like feeding (6) dogs, mopping, sweeping dirt in and outside the house. Cleaning the dog house, cooking, doing the laundry, and my internet jobs which require lots of time. Once I sit my ass in front of the computer that's when I start to procrastinate but I make sure that whatever I do for that day is something productive and with purpose.
Do not beat yourself up if you cannot do it. I'm sure there are other productive things you can do today. It maybe a small task but it sure will lessen your piling task and before you know it you have done all that is needed to be done. It is better to do things with your mind on it rather than forcing your mind in doing it. The result is not something you picture and you get dissatisfied that you would want to do it again.
The bottom line is to do what works for you. There are so many tips out there but for me those are just ideas to improve our existing system. Many of them might not really work for each of us. We have different situations that need different solutions. It's up to us to find what best work for us.
