I was so impressed when they arrived in the city perhaps 3 years ago. We used to just dump our trash in some specific areas near our place for convenience then the garbage truck would also pick it up daily, twice a week sometimes but never consistently daily. The current mayor though is working hard to make this city clean thus buying those big garbage bins.
Anyway, last night when I went out to throw my trash, the big bin was gone. I thought maybe they just fixed it or something and will be returned soon, so I left my trash right on the spot where the garbage bin used to be along with a lot of garbage.
This morning though I learned that they removed it permanently. The reason is that the people who collects trash who sells it would mess them up a lot to rummage through the pile of trash but would never put it back inside the bin. They just leave it on the street. They have been warned but it was totally ignored. So the city had no choice but to remove it. This place is near the airport and the first kilometer that the tourist would see are mountains of garbage along the streets. Not a very good sight and certainly losing a lot of points for first impression. It maybe an inconvenience for me but for the good of the city so I'm all for it. This is just a minor thing that has a solution already. The residence in the compound hired someone to collect our trash daily. So everybody happy.
Well not all actually. The people who earn their living by picking trash wasn't at all happy about it but whose fault? Now they are angry at the government for taking away their living? Why can't they just follow?
Someone said to me that Filipinos are more intelligent than Malaysian but Malaysia is more developed because their people follow the law. I couldn't agree with him more. DISCIPLINE is what we Filipinos are lacking with. If a particular law or ordinance is passed you can bet your ass they would protest faster than the speeding bullet as if their ideas are better than the law! Take for example here the simple wearing of helmet. Oh boy, it's either you see them on their elbows or just dangling somewhere just to show they have a helmet in case a police stopped them. You see, because we are so used to going against our government we fail to see the importance of the law. It is for our safety and law or not as a responsible person who values life you should wear it at all times you are on the road. How many deaths already that could have been avoided if only they were wearing helmets? I believe it's just common sense.
Another thing that reminds me why this country is not moving forward. SPITTING in public places is a disgusting habit people! In a jeepney, a passenger would cough and then spit outside while the jeep is moving fast so you can just imagine where those phlegm would land! Sono***%$$#@@!*%$##!! I have been a victim twice so yes I am raging mad and if only it's easy to stoop down their level and kick their ass oh I so would! You walk on the streets downtown and someone would just spit right then and there without even maybe bending towards the ground to consider other people being hit by the spatter but NOOO it comes out their mouth as if it's the natural thing in the world. I'd say they even have some style on how to shoot out their saliva cool and fast. Oh boy. So how do you tell them not to do it? They would probably look at me and think I'm crazy. You know again the-who-are-you-to-tell-me-what-to-do attitude. It's hard for us to follow. So how can we expect for this country to move forward when we don't even give our leader a chance if their program will work or not if we are not even following it? We want to do things our own way and yet we want the government to do things for us. I don't think it works that way.
I LOVE this country, but not some of the people in it...If only my countrymen will love this country as much as they love themselves and with the Filipinos' intelligence we sure will go along way towards progress.
I wonder what will happen if we bring the Malaysians here and we all move to Malaysia....just a thought..

that's nice if they have those bins around towns, mas mukhang malinis at organized ang paligid.
